Anne Bush

Anne Bush againWe were so very sorry to hear that Anne Bush had passed away recently, in St Leonard's Hospice.

Anne was a lovely lady, involved in a wide range of activities, on top of supporting family life. One of her interests was local history, so she joined us at an early stage in our development and was always thoughtful about how she could best contribute to our activities. She agreed to be our Membership Officer and Trustee Secretary in the early days, from around 2016 until 2020, when Peter Monether took over, and both did a sterling job in creating and maintaining good systems to support us.

Anne took part in a number of our history projects over the years, keen to help where she could. We worked together on the history of the old shops in South Bank, and on commemorating the history of St Chad's Church.  She was able to offer old church magazines as an invaluable research resource, and could also put us in touch with some useful contacts from the church.

She was one of a small group performing A Munitions Dirge, at Explore York in 2016. This was a song our colleague Sue Raines found in the Borthwick Archive, about munitions workers at the Cooke's factory in Bishophill in WW1

Anne was actively engaged in local politics and also took a keen interest in arts and crafts. She was particularly busy in 2017/2018 when she was Sheriff's Lady to Gillian Brian. Sadly Anne lost her husband Chris last year.

She will be such a sad loss to her family and the church and to us her friends and colleagues.
