Free online resources for local history research
Are you interested in finding out more about your house, or your street? Or perhaps about a local person connected with the history of our area? Or maybe you'd like to follow up on your own family history, but don't know where to start?
If you're not confident in using a computer, there are places which will help, such as the libraries in York. Follow this link to find out about these. There is also free access to computers and the internet at St Clement's Church Internet Cafe, every Wednesday between 5 and 7pm and Friday between 10am and 12pm.
Most people now have smartphones and/or a tablet, which can also be used to explore sources of information, as alternatives to a computer.
