Hugh Murray, History Man

We were sorry to hear of the death of Hugh Murray last week. He was a tremendous resource for all those who are interested in the history of York. He was particularly helpful when I approached him about his collection of photographic images two months ago, and very kindly agreed to copy all those relating to our area, to help us in our researches. He had a vast knowledge and was generous with his time, always willing to listen. He will be sadly missed, but not forgotten.
